Fate’s Landing Earth Science Game

fates_landing

Related to S. 4.1. my team and I created a short computer-based game using Articulate Storyline. We chose a K-6 lesson plan that adheres to NGSS and Florida Science Standards. It was a unique challenge because we needed to model erosion, deposition, and their impact on the Earth’s surface. After some trial and error, we settled on using a variety of memory and matching games. I handled the technical aspects of the deliverable including asset acquisition and game development within Storyline. I would’ve preferred to create a more robust experience that would allow students to experiment with a fully interactive environment, but our timeline simply didn’t allow for a large-scale project. The game was well received and I’m extremely proud of my team.

Course Banner

iga7-john

This is a fun and evocative course banner I made in Instructional Graphics for another class. I used Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to create the assets. I can’t take full credit for the original aesthetic as I followed several tutorials that outlined the steps needed to attain the 80s-inspired look and typography that’s so hot right now.

The PDF contains a fully navigable infographic that conveys the instructional development process as conducted by USF’s Digital Learning faculty in conjunction with instructors. I actually used Canva for this and structured the document in Adobe Acrobat. The Before and After shows the draft prior to feedback. Based on feedback from the class, I reduced extraneous details.
